full fourth festivities

ok, so here's the complete documentation of my Fourth of July... and random strangers'. but mostly mine.

the day began as *nearly* every Fourth of July does for my family... with donuts and fruit. we consumed our special treat while waiting for the parade to start...
friends with flags
as these fun and funky ladies walked down the street with their equally outfitted pooch, we were utterly confused. then a truck followed advertising a grooming service.

so much irony to work with here...
wearing a British soccer jersey...
hands hide face...
he's everybody, he's Uncle Sam.
(check out that hat!)
(he's really just fig, my brother)

this cutie was ready
to join the parade,
but her mom was a bit
more reluctant. :)

I spy Batman!
I wasn't the only one snapping pics and making memories...

after the oh-so-patriotic (and political!) parade, a rest, and a costume change, here we come England!

ok, not really, but we sure do enjoy your tea tradition! I always have loved tea... and this day I was fortunate enough to experience it in red, white, and blue at a classy* hotel.
*you know it's classy when the napkins in the bathroom feel like cloth but are disposable... and...

if Downton Abbey had public restrooms, this is what their sign would look like.
p.s. if you're not obsessed with Downton yet, please go watch it. now! :D
then go fan-girl with my pinterest board all about Downton.

the food, the tea, the atmosphere... it was all lovely, perfect, and patriotic.
such a treat!
we obviously had so much fun... especially playing with the mirror table in the far right pictures. :) pretty pretty, shiny shiny.

event three was our town-famous fireworks: an extravagant, eye-catching show (that lasts long!). this year my camera caught it too:

my favorite pictures are the third from the top and the third from the bottom. which are your favorite?

I love the aftermath shots almost as much as the pure, bright beauty of the fireworks...
I took this shot with the camera leaning on a tree for a stability...
I love the shadow of the leaves that it adds.

purposefully adding a little movement to create light lines
one loner left

Which photo and/or group of photos from the Fourth is your favorite? I may be submitting one to an Independence Day only contest, so your input is much appreciated! :)
