fashion forward fourth

this Independence Day, I chose to use my freedom of expression in the field of fashion: 3 outfits for 3 events. with a hint of retro and dash of patriotism, I'd say that they'd make our founding fathers proud.

Outfit 1: The Parade
Dress: thrifted
Shirt: Target
Shoes: Aldo
Necklace: DIY

Outfit 2: Patriotic (and ironic) Tea

Dress: thrifted then altered (shoulder pads and sleeves removed)
Sweater: Target
Shoes: Old Navy (sale!)

isn't the best part of fancy hotels their beautiful bathrooms?!
sorry for the lower quality pictures...
I left my camera's battery on the charger at home. does that ever happen to you? forgetting the memory card, the battery, or the camera itself on those important days?

Outfit 3: Fireworks

Shirt: Target
Tank: Mom
Shorts: no idea
Scarf tied as headband: gift
Bracelet: DIY necklace from outfit 1

I'll be back soon with documentation of what I actually did on the Fourth... just wanted to share a sample of what I wore for now. I heard someone say this on the radio, and it expresses how I've been feeling lately:
The day after the Fourth of July feels like the day after Christmas.
since Independence day was a Wednesday, this sensation is only exacerbated. the Fourth felt like a Saturday, or at least a Friday... and to still have half a week left was unreal. (not that I was doing anything the rest of the week--unless you count catching up on Drop Dead Diva.)

How was your holiday, stateside friends?

I would love to hear from you! Please just drop a line or two, and I promise I'll get back to you. (yes, I said that because it rhymed :)
