summer's funeral.

first of all, here's a little disclaimer: my friends and I are weird. but we're also witty.

so one day "Summer's funeral" was born.

and I commissioned myself to design the invitations (Adobe Photoshop Elements). do you like them?

our wake was the Friday before school started. here's a few photos:

plenty of somber candles

I made a Pink Lemonade Cake for the party, iced with black lemonade buttercream icing. I made the decorations for the top, too. My creation was based on a combination of recipes and tips from Better Homes and Gardens May 2012 issue (thanks Grandma!). I will post about the cake soon if you're interested!

mmm...

the deli spread, a necessary part of any funeral

my friend and co-host made this coffin for Summer... it is beautiful. she spray-painted the outside of the large box black and lined the inside with silky floral fabric (that matches our invitations!). everyone who came left mementos or photos of summer in the coffin... a bottle of pool water, special photos, a glass bottle from the  World of Coke... if you look closely you can even see my 100 mile running chart. we plan to open it up later this year and reminisce.

what did you do to honor the legacy of Summer?

I would love to hear from you! Please just drop a line or two, and I promise I'll get back to you. (yes, I said that because it rhymed :)
